Thea and I were born approximately 19 hours and 28 minutes apart in Queens, NY. We were destined to be best buddies when, after her mom came to visit my mom and me at the hospital, Thea got impatient and decided to be born too. For a while we lived in the same house in Queens, but then her parents bought their own house. Still, during the days, Thea was brought over to our place and Lola Geling would take care of us both. When we were about 4, Thea's family moved to the suburbs of New York City, and my family soon followed. Next door. We went to the same school through 4th grade, but then I transferred to public school, and she didn't join me until sophomore year of high school. We graduated together, though. Then I moved away to California and we see each other only a few times a year. But as it always is with best friends, whenever we get together, it's as if we hadn't been separated at all.
Now Thea is getting married, and I'm her Maid of Honor. It all seems so grown up.
Update, 5 years later: Now I'm getting married, and she's MY Maid (ok, Matron) of Honor!
