Response to the most Frequently Asked Question

I would just like to summarize these web pages in one sentence: This is not a personal ad.

Being a woman on the Internet, I've gotten propositions from several men, asking for things ranging from penpals to netsex. I generally don't even respond to those types of messages. The reason I put these pages up was to share a little bit about myself to people who might be curious. I often browse the web and see what other people have to say -- the least I can do is say something about myself in return.

The Internet is a great place to make friends -- I've made some good friends over MU*s, and have had great e-mail discussions that began as responses to USENET postings. It's really worth trying, because each MU* and each newsgroup is its own little virtual world, and you sort of have an idea of what a person is like before you begin personally communicating with them. When I first put my web page up, there weren't many women with web pages, and I had gotten some mail that was... let's just say that it didn't reflect well upon men in general, and I am now all too aware of the less-savory characters that hang out in this electronic world. While most people aren't like that, I have gotten to be somewhat wary.
